Participatory Guarantee System for the quality of farmers' seeds for Community Seed Banks in Colombia

This handbook is the second revised edition of the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) for the Quality of Farmers’ seeds handbook. In Colombia, the endeavour of guaranteeing seed quality through PGSs in community seed banks is still in its early stages. This handbook is the culmination of over a decade of dialogues with peasants and leaders, representing a collaborative effort. Its purpose is to serve as a practical resource for agroecological producer organisations to establish their own system, taking into account the key elements of such a system: agreements, procedures, records, and participation. It also serves as an invitation to recreate it and collaborate with existing networks that already employ it, fostering a unified proposal for political advocacy concerning seed quality guarantee.
