Crop Diversity: Securing Our Food Legacy for Generations to Come

At first glance, seeds may not look like much. But within them lies the architecture of thousands of different plants with thousands of different traits. They hold the secrets to the foundation of our food supply and the possibility of a world without hunger. In addition, our planet is getting hotter and hotter. Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and more devastating, leading to radical changes in farming, ecosystem destruction, and biodiversity loss. As a result, we’re losing crop diversity – the variety of seeds – rapidly. And once a seed variety is gone - it could be gone forever, and with it, solutions. The Crop Trust is a non-profit international organization dedicated to conserving crop diversity and making seeds available for use globally for the benefit of everyone.
