BOLD Voices: Backing Up Community Seed Banks in Zimbabwe

The Community Technology Development Trust (CTDT) has established 20 community seed banks across 12 districts in Zimbabwe, empowering smallholder farmers to preserve and access diverse crops. Managed by local farmer committees with support from the National Genebank of Zimbabwe and agricultural extension services, these seed banks provide a lifeline for neglected opportunity crops and help farmers adapt to changing climates. With support from the Crop Trust’s BOLDProject, a 10-year initiative funded by Norway, Zimbabwe is taking a critical step in ensuring food and nutrition security for future generations.
