Conservation and sustainable use of genetic resources of Opuntia spp.

The FAO-ICARDA Technical Cooperation Network on Cactus (CactusNet) was established in 1993 with the support from FAO. CactusNet supports researchers, practitioners and farmers to exchange knowledge on cacti and support the development of dryland agriculture. Cacti (Opuntia spp. and Hylocereus spp. among others) are versatile crops with a wide range of use from food, animal feed and medicinal use to source of biofuel and industrial uses.
