Community seed promoters trained in sustainable maize seed production and marketing in Nepal

The Hill Maize Research Project (HMRP), funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) was initiated in 1999 with the objective of increasing the food security of farm families in the hills of Nepal by raising the productivity and sustainability of maize-based cropping systems. This article highlights one of their strategic activities: a 20-day training course on maize seed production technologies (15 days) and seed business plan development and marketing (5 days) to promote community based seed production (CBSP).
