International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

Conservation and Sustainable Use of Agricultural Biodiversity

Agricultural biodiversity includes all components of biological diversity of relevance to food and agriculture: the variety and variability of plants, animals and micro-organisms at genetic, species and ecosystem level which are necessary to sustain key functions in the agro-ecosystem, its structures and processes. This sourcebook comprises a total of 75 articles. The collection of articles is intentionally diverse, addressing topics ranging from international treaties, legislation, policy, community processes, local knowledge, field-level interventions and methodological issues. There is, however, a predominance of article on crops.
