Principles of Sustainable Intensification: A Training Manual for Field Officers
Description
The manual intends to equip Extension Officers as front line staff with basic principles and or practical examples of sustainable intensification (SI) approaches so they are better placed to help farmers achieve resilience within their small land sizes. SI often uses locally components that need to be combined in an optimum way to achieve a balance in the ecosystem that includes the farmers.
The manual was developed as part of the project “Exploring wide crosses derived crop biodiversity (sorghum x maize) for climate resilience and food and nutrition security in Eastern and Southern Africa” funded in the 4th cyclle of the Benefit Sharing Fund (BSF) of the International Treaty of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN).
