  • 1. International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics
  • 2. International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT)

Description

The manual intends to equip Extension Officers as front line staff with basic principles and/or practical examples for pigeon pea pest management so they are better placed to help farmers achieve resilience within their small land sizes.  The manual incudes a description of common pest and diseases affecting pigeon pea cultivation, principles for pest control, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), crop management and organic pesticides.

The manual was developed as part of the project “Exploring wide crosses derived crop biodiversity (sorghum x maize) for climate resilience and food and nutrition security in Eastern and Southern Africa” funded by the Benefit Sharing Fund (BSF) of the International Treaty of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN).
