Conservación multidimensional y territorial de los Recursos Genéticos

Description

This paper was developed in the framework of the project “Conservación y uso sostenible de los recursos fitogenéticos locales para la alimentación y la agricultura (RFAA) para contribuir a la seguridad alimentaria de los pequeños agricultores de Argentina” funded in the 4th project cycle of Benefit Sharing Fund (BSF) of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The aim of this project is to identify, value, rescue and reinsert in the socio-cultural and productive ecosystems of Argentina, the genetic resources of populations at risk of extinction and erosion. In addition, partners from INTA aimed at identifying the concomitant causes of the risks, its processes and mechanisms, through a systemic, multidimensional and territorial approach. The project encourages the recognition and importance of inclusion of local communities in the conservation and preservation of local diversity. They are working through an interdisciplinary approach and territorial working groups. These groups will work with INTA and other institutions, including with the local communities, favoring the  conservation of germplasm and the knowledge associated with it. These actions will make it possible to have germplasm that is adapted to the specific climatic and production conditions  adding cultural, economic and ecological value to the raw material obtained and encourage young people, to revalue the traditional knowledge and the permanence in the sector.
