Catálogo de Porotos

Description

This catalog is the result of five years of dedication and hard work in documenting the good practices of  bean varieties, including their use and cultivation, in Zapala region of Argentina. The beginning phase of this work started in partnership with INTA extension agency in Zapala, within the framework of the National project ProHuerta and then was consolidated through the project Euroclima, and ultimately within the project “Conservación y uso sostenible de los recursos fitogenéticos locales para la alimentación y la agricultura (RFAA) para contribuir a la seguridad alimentaria de los pequeños agricultores de Argentina” funded in the 4th cycle of the Benefit Sharing Fund (BSF) of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN).

The participating groups consisted of 9 families where women were the largest representatives, many of these heads of households. They are organized as the Huerteras from Covunco group and belong to the Association of Rural Development (A.F.R.) of the area as active members.
